The Burtons: Fascinating in Life and Death
This three-part documentary series, The Burtons: Fascinating in Life and Death, is about the Victorian explorers and authors, Sir Richard Francis Burton and Lady Isabel Burton and their final resting place, the Burton Mausoleum in the churchyard of St Mary Magdalen Roman Catholic Church in Mortlake. The Burtons: Fascinating in Life and Death documentary series was produced by Janga Films and commissioned by the charity Habitats & Heritage for the 2024-2026 project, Burton: Exploring Without Boundaries, which was made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. As part of the work on the documentary series, we have created learning resources to support each episode, these can be downloaded using the link beneath each episode and offer guidance and suggestions for planning lessons for students in primary, secondary and post 16 education.
