Volunteers are pivotal to our work, without them we couldn’t preserve our green spaces, protect our built heritage and engage communities across south and west London. We want volunteers to feel valued and proud to be part of the Habitats & Heritage community. If you are thinking of becoming a regular volunteer we provide an induction, supervision and training - everyone is welcome!

Becoming a volunteer can be daunting. Will they want me? What can I really do? Don’t worry, you don’t need any specialist knowledge or have professional skills. Just bring along your enthusiasm and let us guide you.

Our expert staff will help you to understand what we are doing and why. They will guide you, whether it’s planting vegetation for water voles, recording bat species, spotting the important features of a significant local building, selling tickets at events or promoting us on social media. We will have a whole range of activities and experiences to offer that will help you to gain new knowledge and skills.

See our Vacancies page for specific roles and volunteer opportunities we are looking for, or come along to the volunteering events listed on the What’s On page.

Local groups in Richmond and Hounslow are also seeking volunteer committee members. Click here to see the vacancies
