Tawny Owls are the UK’s largest common owl 

They are the species responsible for the classic ‘Twit twoo” owl call which is actually the sound of one owl calling (twit) and another answering (twoo)!

The best time to hear them is in autumn evenings when they begin courting. 

Tawny owls mate for life, just like swans! 

They have a better memory than other birds of prey, and will remember the position of trees for improved hunting at night.
