Welcome to our Summer Talks Series at the newly reopened Grove Gardens Chapel.

Over nine weeks, Habitats & Heritage host a range of expert speakers to give evening lectures to the public. Topics include local heritage such as the recently conserved Burton Mausoleum, the gardens at Twickenham Park, and JMW Turner’s life in Twickenham, as well as talks on caring for your local environment through domestic gardening and habitat conservation.

THIS WEEK: Lady Isabel Burton: Her Life and Mausoleum

Dr Helen Brown, Heritage Projects Officer at H&H, will explore the fascinating life of Lady Isabel Burton (1831-1896), explorer, author, and designer of the unique Burton Mausoleum. The Burton Mausoleum has recently been conserved and is a testament of Isabel’s love for her husband, Sir Richard Francis Burton, and a reflection of their relationship.
