SECRET ART AUCTION 2023 ARTISTS’ BIOGRAPHIES

Same principle – original A5 artworks will be available to purchase from amazing and celebrated artists.
Same mystery – all artwork shall be signed on the back and you won’t know who the artist is until you have purchased the artwork.
Same value – all proceeds raised will help support our nature and heritage conservation work.
New format – now an online silent auction, you can browse, place bids on, and purchase items starting from just £30 each.

We are thrilled to announce that artists who generously donated their works to this year’s fundraiser include Royal Academicians Sir Richard Long CBE, David Nash OBE, Peter Barber OBE, Anne Desmet, Olwyn Bowey, Richard Wilson, Katherine Jones as well RA Summer Exhibition 2023 artists Karl Bielik, Anastasia Borodina, Jack Candy-Kemp, Laura Critchlow RMS, Annette Fernando, Jahan Gerrard, Ian McNicol, John O’Reilly, Malcolm Rains, Edit Toaso, Estelle Vera and Simon Wright. Other fantastic artists including painters Janette Kerr PPRWA HRSA, Susie Hamilton, Anne Swankie, illustrator and Habitats & Heritage patron Axel Scheffler, cartoonists Kipper Williams, Jonathan Pugh, Nick Bridson Baker, zoologist and wildlife presenter Megan McCubbin, poet David Harsent, comedian, actor and presenter Julian Clary, writer, photographer and explorer Levison Wood and many many more!

Join our Secret Art Auction this September, grab yourself a masterpiece and most importantly, help us to protect and preserve the natural and historic heritage in south and west London. Your purchase might just create new habitats and join up the green corridor to better support our vital biodiversity. Or, give a young person the opportunity to meaningfully interact with nature. Or maybe it will support vital energy efficiency and climate projects or protect your favourite local heritage asset. Each purchase can make a huge difference so thank you so much for taking part!

Axel Scheffler, the best-selling illustrator of many favourite children’s picture books, including the award-winning The Gruffalo is one of the charity’s patrons and donates an illustration every year.
Axel says: “The Secret Art Auction is a unique way to raise funds for the important work that Habitats & Heritage does. I’m delighted to take part again this year and I encourage other artists to contribute a piece of art for this great cause.”
