The UK’s largest land predator, and they are mostly nocturnal, although in summer they may be out shortly before sunset.  Badgers can still be found in the Kingston Borough!

They live in burrows, called a ‘sett’, which can be used by the same family for generations. They live mostly in a mixture of woodland and open grass.

Badgers have poor eyesight, like most other nocturnal animals, but they make up for it with an excellent sense of smell!

Badgers are ‘Keystone species’, so they play important roles in shaping a landscape as a whole.
