2 Minute Litter Pick 2023

Habitats & Heritage have relaunched the 2 Minute Litter Pick project in Richmond riverside! We aim to inspire Richmond residents and visitors to keep the towpath tidy and reduce the amount of plastic and litter entering the Thames, with easy access to litter pickers and rubbish bags.

While many people, worry about the amount of plastic entering the oceans and want to help, it is often difficult to know where to begin. Now people can take action by just locating an A-board. It is then as simple as taking the picker, filling a bag, emptying the contents in a bin, and returning the pickers and bag.

4 brand new 2-minute Litter pick boards have been placed in strategic points along the River Thames in Orleans House Gallery, Hammerton Ferry and Cambridge Gardens.

So now, anyone passing by this can do their part to help stop damaging litter and plastic into the river. All we ask is that passers-by borrow a litter pick and a reusable bag from one of the boards and take 2 minutes to pick litter, empty it in the closest bin and return the equipment to the board.

And to make your impact bigger, share and encourage others to help too! Take a picture of your 2-minute litter pick and share it on social media with the hashtag #CleanRichmond and you are welcome to tag @habsandheritage too!

Our original initiative was launched in December 2018 with 2 boards in partnership with  Be Richmond. The White Cross Pub, The Bingham and Gauchobeing were of huge help in looking after the 2 boards

2 Minute Litter Picks originates from the southwest of England by the 2 Minute Foundation and was floated as something we should do locally by a local resident.
