London Festival of Architecture: Victorian Architecture & the Impacts of Climate Change

For this year’s London Festival of Architecture, Habitats & Heritage will be hosting a talk at Grove Gardens Chapel, a fine example of Victorian Gothic Revival architecture in the leafy suburb of Richmond upon Thames. Built as a mortuary chapel in 1875, it was disused by 1964. Despite a huge campaign to conserve the building in the 1990s, it is unfortunately at risk once more due to subsidence brought on by climate change.

This event is an opportunity to discuss the increasing threats to London’s Victorian architecture and the particular vulnerability of London clay to climate change. The talk will be followed by a tour of the site, answering your questions on how we can come together to save these buildings for the future.

There will be time for self-guided tour of the building and surrounding area.
