Walk and Talk: Good Gardens; how to get the best out of water in your garden, Ham
- October 2 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join Ham United Group for an informal tour of residential ponds and water harvesting systems.
Are you considering building a pond in your garden? Or maybe, you are just curious to know whether you’ve got enough space. If so, then this walk is for you!
Water is essential to garden wildlife. Birds and mammals need to drink and bathe, while amphibians and invertebrates use water for breeding. During this informal tour, we will visit three home garden ponds at different stages of maturation as well as a micro pond. Residents will be sharing valuable pond-building know-how and sharing those all-important lessons learnt. They’ll also be telling us about wildlife they have observed since they installed their ponds.
The tour will also look at a rainwater harvesting system to improve the sustainability of our gardening practice.
This is a family friendly event, but children need to be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
